2012, Cygnus mystery and Gamma radiation?
If you know anything about it, I'd like to hear your opinion...
It seems plausible since so many large, religious monuments of ancient man have some connection to the year 2012 and the (neuron?) star Cygnus.
Such (religious) importance was put on this date by numerous cultures.
Could it really mean nothing to humanity?
What do you think about the intense gamma radiation we are supposedly going to enter, or the effects it could have on us?
According to the Mayans this has happened 21'000 years ago... and happens at 21'000 year intervals, do you think this could explain the remarkable rate at which man has evolved?
I've even heard an explanation (including fancy numbers) that the radiation is Gods wrath just-a-waitin' to roast us...
I must admit I am excited to see what happens... yet I'd like to hear other opinions (or receive interesting links)

No large religious monuments of ancient man have a connection to the year 2012. Well, there is one Mayan temple where they say they're going to have a new years party with a few of their gods, but their calendar was so inaccurate, it could be off by years now. All those other things though, including that they predicted the end of the world, or even that their calendar ends or that any body else in the world had any predictions to 2012...
Flim flam.
The Mayans didn't think anything happened 21,000 years ago, they thought their version of creation was around 5 thousand years ago.
Man evolved very little 21,000 years ago. About 75ish thousand years ago was the last major change, when we went from being merely anatomically modern humans to behaviorally modern humans. Since then the only changes have been on the order of adaptations of melanin levels to balance vitamin D creation with skin cancer risks in some populations.
