Action Figures - Not Just For Kids
There was a time that action figures were enjoyed only by kids but this does not hold true anymore. It was believed that only children could play with action figure toys due to their imaginative minds. However, today most people realize that adults, as well as children, like to stimulate their minds and their imagination by playing with them. Most adults enjoy this as a hobby while the average child just enjoys playing with these toy figures.
You may be asking yourself just what is the value of an action figure. Well, it should go without saying that if you if you own one in unopened package and it is in mint condition, quite naturally it will be more valuable than one that is already opened. However, for a child there is no price that can be placed upon just looking at the figure in the package and not being able to open it up and play with it. What many collectors of these figures do is purchase two, one that will stay in the package in mint condition and another that may be taken out observed and handled. It should be noted that if you do this on every purchase it will become very expensive.
Some of the more popular figurines include the cast of Star Wars, Superman, Ninja Turtles, Batman and G.I. Joe. Those figures that are from a vintage era such as the above mentioned can be resold for as much as $200. This is a decent profit considering that when purchased new you only pay around $20 or $30. When looking at these figurines from a collector's point of view it should be noted that the value of them increases if they have lots of moving parts and a variety of accessories. How do I keep batteris in an action figure from corroding without opening it?
The Halo Series 1 Cortana contains batteries in the base. It isn't exactly in mint condition anymore if I open it to take them out, but if I leave them in they will corrode and ruin the figurine. I can't find a solution to this problem anywhere. Could I possibly seal it from oxygen using a sealed vacuum bag?
Your answer lies in your question.. well somewhat. Just put something like rubber or just seal the battery compartment with tape so that air doesn't pass... no reaction takes place.. no corrosion! yes.. make sure that the compartment is DRY before you do that and there is no water or leakage in the batteries
